20.00 Uhr „Hurria!“ – Projekttheater Dresden

Events on G7 – The summit is calling and we will all come!

Transnational Mobilisation-Tour for freedom of movement, autonomy and good living instead of G7

The BUKO (Bundeskoordination Internationalismus = Federal Coordination of Internationalism) Tour is coming to Dresden! This is why we want to invite you to discuss with international activists and speakers why the transnational resistance against G7 is so important. One topic, among others, is also how the G7 states are contributing to global imbalances and hinder alternative aspirations as well as approaches for change. An exchange of ideas and opinions, characterised by solidarity, shall help to strengthen South-South and South-North networks and to elicit common problems and battle grounds. Dresden Postkolonial invites you to listen to activists and their point of view as these critical voices are more important than ever due to the racist atmosphere in Dresden. The main topics of all the events will be, among others, free trade, migration and flight as well as the protest mobilisation for the G7 Summit in Elmau, Bavaria.

For more information please visit the BUKO website  or check out the Tour Blog.

Programme

May 22nd, 2015

The TPP was established in Mexico in 2011 and functions as kind of a civil society ‘conscience tribunal’ in public hearings. It tries to illustrate the disastrous consequences of free trade politics, drug wars, violence and the violation of international law by the states and the companies. In his lecture, Sánchez will discuss in particular the effect of the free trade on the society and present the results of the tribunal.

8 pm „Hurria!“ – Projekttheater Dresden
In his theatre piece ‚Hurria!‘, Arabic for freedom, the Tunisian artist and activist Riadh Ben Ammar deals with the complex battles for freedom (of movement) in the course of the Tunisian revolution in 2011.
On January 14 2011, a revolution took place in Tunisia. Many young people left the country in the aftermath. Thousands arrived as refugees in Lampedusa. Back then, the German Home Secretary, Thomas de Maizière, said these people should realize that they belong in Tunisia. They should stay in Tunisia and help to rebuild it. Angela Merkel made similar statements too: in her opinion it is self-evident that not everyone who does not want to live in Tunisia anymore could come to Europe. The theatre piece can be seen as a response to this kind of statements. The many different ways of the search for freedom are addressed as they reached a new level after the revolution. Besides being directed against the dictatorship, the revolution was also a fight against the European migration regime. ‘Hurria’ is dealing with the relation of the North Africans’ problems and the European migration regulations. The question is raised, how European tourists in Tunis, Frontex, deportations, and religious fundamentalism are cohered. Riadh Ben Ammar, 40, came from Tunisia to Germany 15 years ago as a Harraga (Arabic, literally: border burner; irregular migrant) and first he lived in a refugee camp for many years. Now he is engaged with Afrique-Europe-Interact and No Border Tunis.
